Heart
disease is complex. It is unpredictable. In the UK,
someone has a heart attack every two minutes and only
half survive. Heart disease affects our team members,
members, friends and family which is why we have chosen
to continue to support the BHF and help save more
hearts in crisis.
Inactivity is a serious health problem as we know
that 7 in every 10 women and 6 in 10 men in the UK
are not active enough to achieve health benefits.
This leads them to be at twice the risk of developing
coronary heart disease compared to active people.
The BHF recommends 30 minutes of moderate physical
activity 5 or more times a week. Regular exercise
is a key factor in keeping your heart healthy, as
it improves circulation and reduces the risk of high
blood pressure.
We aim to build on our fundraising success this year
and raise even more funds for the BHF. The funds we
raise go directly to supporting pioneering heart research.
BHF research breakthroughs such as clot busting drugs,
new pacemakers and replacement heart valves have saved
and improved the lives of thousands of people whose
hearts were in crisis. The vital funds we raise also
help the BHF continue their education and care work
- providing information to the public and medical
profession and helping heart patients to return to
a full and active way of life through much needed
BHF Heart Nurses in local communities.
